Hempatherm IC 170 is waterbased thermal insulation coating based on aerogel technology and a special acrylic resin blend. The product cures to a hydrophobic layer that is able to resist water ingress and retention and thereby helps maintain reliable and consistent thermal insulation performance of the service life of the coating system.
Hempatherm IC 170 is used as a topcoat or sealer over Hempatherm IC 175. Provides a smoother finish to reduce dirt pickup.

Tool | Thinning max vol. | Application parameters |
---|---|---|
Air spray | Not Recommended | Nozzle pressure: 2 bar [29 psi], Nozzle orifice: 0.125″ |
Spray data are indicative and subject to adjustment. Pressure is for a material temperature of 20°C [68°F].
Low | High | Recommended | |
---|---|---|---|
Dry film thickness | 750 micron [30 mils] | 1500 micron [60 mils] | 1000 micron [40 mils] |
Wet film thickness | 907 micron [36 mils] | 1813 micron [73 mils] | 1209 micron [48 mils] |
Theoretical spreading rate | 1.1 m²/L [45 sq ft/US gal] | 0.6 m²/L [24 sq ft/US gal] | 0.8 m²/L [33 sq ft/US gal] |
Product may be specified in another film thickness than indicated depending on purpose and area of use. This will alter spreading rate, drying and curing time and overcoating interval. Checking paint consumption per area can improve the control of film thickness. It is vital that the specified minimum dry film thickness is uniformly achieved.
